Poor marshalling
I will not return as these days no one has the patience to wait for the slow group ahead at EVERY shot. 5.5 hours.
Marshalling is the key........get slow players to move or move them to the next hole and ease the back up.
Our group tried to ham it up with our complaining and how the group ahead played head games as though they were pros but our patience wore thin.
Great course!! Interesting holes and awesome views of the valley.
This was my 2nd time playing Vistal and it was another good experience. The first good impression came as soon as the outside service guys grabbed our clubs. Very friendly and helpful... the 3rd in our group was running a little late but they were very accommodating to the adjustment. The course was in very good shape for this time of year but they don't overseed so it's probably going to change in a few weeks.
No OVERSEED...NO need.!!!
Love the LAYOUT. The course was in good condition. A couple then spots but, nothing serious. Greens a lil slow but you have to pay attention if you're putting toward mountains or not. OVERSLL...good value for the $.
Great Views
We had a very good experience at Vistal. The course was busy but we never waited much as we were a foursome. The fairways were in good shape and the greens were good as well. We played in just over 4 hours.
Good Course Great Staff
The course was in very good shape and is the best value for the money in the fall. Great views and some challenging holes. What really stood out was the excellent service of the staff, even remembering me by name as I came off the course and this was my first time there.
A nice round of Golf!
I played this course by myself but got paired up with a couple and had a good time. The course was in good shape and the greens were pretty good but your ball rolled real well. The course had some dry spots but for the most part it looked good. There is some holes that go along the South Mountain and were very picture less but had a fun time playing this course. The staff was vary nice and the cart lady was nice too. Can't wait to get back to Phoenix and play the course again.
nice course
course was in good condition and played in 4 hrs. the fairways were in good condition but if you went off the fairway the rough was thick and you lost all roll on your ball

I really enjoyed my round at Vistal. The course was in great condition, many challenging holes and the course layout was well thought out and fair. Great views throughout the course. I love playing a round in 3.5 hours! I'll will definately play this course again!
another great days golfing
This was the second time I've played this course. It is in great condition. the course plays long but generally open
Good Value Course with Great Views
Course location and rate were biggest factors in selection. This was one of the few courses that had not overseeded in the area. Despite this, both the fairways and greens were in exceptional condition.
Rough was a little high and made for a lost ball or two. Was able to complete 18 holes at a reasonable pace.
Good course conditions
Always tough for me to score well here, greens are fairly small and thin. Course In fine shape.
Great Value for the area
Most of the time when I am in the area I play golf at Vistal. The Staff are always friendly and helpful. In my opinion it is the best value in the area. The course is a fairly easy layout but can be challenging if played from the tips. All in all it is a course all skill levels can enjoy. It is pleasant to look at and offers some good views of the city. Always enjoy my round here.
Perfect Day
Excellent first time playing this course. The course was in great condition and the view was spectacular.
Approach to the greens are enticing, makes you want to go for it.
This course is a gem hidden at the base of South Mountain's North side. Great Fairways with Greens to compliment the course. It feels great to hit an iron on a fairway that has excellent turf and is maintained.
Play this course, it is wonderful with the scenic South Mountain around your game.
Not Overseeding
Played the course on my birthday so my round was free. The course is in very nice shape right now and the greens are pretty fast. The greens are also pretty hard so holding shots was a bit of a challenge. The rough is pretty gnarly in spots so you don't want to get off the fairways. The fairways are in very nice shape for the most part. There is one fairway that was overtaken by the recent rains that was still closed but other than that they were very good. The word is that Vistal isn't going to overseed this year. It will be interesting to see how that works out. Go Play!
Great course
Great course, good practice facilities, and friendly staff. Has some of a challenge but not as much as you expect. Greens ran great, played the day after the storm and they maintained it well.
Challenging layout with elevation changes
Excellent course with some great views to the north of downtown Phoenix. I wish they could offer a discounted rate for walking versus riding in a cart like many other courses. Great value for the money.
a nice setting at base of mountain no houses
only problem if ball went into ruff it was very difficult to find as the ball sunk mosquitos were an issue the club would be wise to sell small cans of repellant
Hit them straight or you'll lose them!
I like this course overall, but if you can't hit them straight then save your money. The rough is next to impossible to get out of if you are lucky enough to find your ball. The sand traps are not sand, dirt to be precise. Views of downtown are great.
Course is in great shape
The course was in excellent shape. The greens were fast but consistent. The rough is rough. Lost a few balls just by missing the fairway by a yard or two.
