Vistal Golf Club

If you miss the fairway you could be in a lot of trouble. Easy to lose balls again if you are off the fairway's. Course is very well marked with hole information at the tee box's so you are never second guessing where you are driving the ball. Fun course for intermediate and better golfer. Beginner golfer will not enjoy this course. A lot of target golf!

This course is right up against South Mountain and also has some views of downtown Phoenix. It's a nice course with a good design. The greens were aerated earlier in the week, but they rolled decently. Got a good Hot Deal on GolfNow.

Course was dry and run down. Greens were in terrible condition.

We played the blue tee, 7013 - so bring the big stick. It was a little windy making it tough on some holes.
The greens need more work, some were hard and most were ok. not great.

Enjoyed playing all 18 holes. The fairways were great and in good condition. The only negative thing is the greens were sandy. Will definitely play there again.

Vistal, previously Thunderbird was once one of the better courses in the valley. For the past few years, the course owners have not been spending much on maintaining the facility. Many of the bunkers have been removed. The remaining ones are in horrible shape. The fairways are dry and rock hard. But the worst deterioration has occurred on the greens. They are in abysmal shape - huge bare spots and dying grass everywhere. It looks like they have not been rolled for years. The owners of the property are just spending the minimal amount to maintain the facility while they wait for the housing market to turn around, then they are going to turn the property into another residential development. This is a shame, because the course has an interestng layout and beautiful views of South Mountain and the valley. I hate to say it, but I have probably played my last round at Vistal.

If you like putting on the fairway, then this is the course for you.

The views were, as usual, fantastic! The greens were in pretty bad shape and extremely slow, which is why I didn't give the best ratings. Hopefully, they're just gearing up for the summer.

Course was in decent condition, a little dry as to be expected in this area. Some interesting holes and great views.

Took a while to figure out the greens, somewhat fast. Bunkers need more sand since they're deep bunkers difficult to get under the ball. Loved the course and we will come back. The staff was fantastic.

Course is well worth the money. Enjoyable layout with plenty of chances for birdie.

I have played this course before and enjoyed the layout of the course, but the greens were very sketchy that time. I returned this time, about a month and one-half later and the greens have seen no improvement. I don't know what is going on with the grounds management, but the course needs better watering. Fairways and greens both seemed parched. Apart from these conditions, the course has a very nice layout to it and presents a very good challenge.

Time on my hands and wanted to try a course on the West side of Phoenix. Course was in good shape an a fun track to play.

Course plays well with challenging holes. Personal were very accommodating with fresh baked free cookies at the clubhouse. We did not like the $9.32 fee charged by Golfnow. We could have set up the tee-time through the phone with no extra charge!

The course was going thru it's transition from winter rye to summer Bermuda so the greens were a bit rough but this course is very challenging and I love that layout. It's all you want.

Greens and bunkers were horrible. Round took over 5 hours and never saw a ranger. Cheapest course for a reason

Beautiful day. Vistal can be a great golf course. Wonderful facilities, great practice areas, and excellent staff. The course maintenance is very disappointing. The tee boxes are above average neatly maintained. Greens are firm and fast but fair. Fairways are very disappointing, several bare spots. For this time of year in this area, for the price it should be better maintained. I booked the tee time for my group and was embarrassed by the course conditions. I had to apologize to my group.

the staff is very good and helpful.
but the course really lacks just a little bit of water, very dry , greens have green dye over all the bare spots. the grass on the greens is crusty. even if you hit on the front of green the ball will roll over the back. i found myself playing one club short in order to land in front of green to allow for added roll. no ranger , i was a single behind a twosome behind a threesome who would not allow them to play thru. we were out there for over 5 hours waited on every shot it was sad, but at least i got to finish my book.
