Wigwam Blue GC in the Phoenix West Valley
Wigwam Blue is one of two Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed golf courses at the Wigwam Resort in the Phoenix West Valley. Very green with a ton of trees, and fresh off a $5 million renovation, this is the shotmaker's golf course that rewards skill over mere brawn every time.
At 6,000 yards, par 70, Wigwam Blue could be considered puny by today's modern mega-long course standards. But it's anything but a pushover. The run of tough, quirky holes that starts on No. 11 that can turn a big hitter's knees to mush. Women, older players and shorter hitters in general will enjoy Wigwam Blue because it equalizes the playing field. Creativity with your irons is rewarded over long blasts off the tee.
