Southern Dunes Golf Club - Phoenix-Scottsdale

Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa gets attention for being the only acknowledged men-only golf club in Arizona. It deserves some attention for its Fred Couples design, however, which is unlike anything else in Phoenix-Scottsdale golf. The landscape is wide open with few trees in sight. The tall native grasses are high, thick and punishing. The houses are nonexistent. There's no pool, no tennis courts, no country-club accouterments. The golf course is the only thing that matters here, and it shows in Couples' tough track.
