ASU's Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, AZ

This isn't your typical 18-hole college golf course. As befits a program that produced Phil Mickelson and Heather Farr, Arizona State University's Karsten Golf Course is a Pete Dye design.

Karsten is low-key in clubhouse attitude but high-level in golf. Dye throws a real shotmaker's course at you. The bunker at No. 8 is so long it should be called the Brown Mile. There are also rolling hills, and more water than you'd expect. Located right in the heart of Tempe, with ASU's football and baseball stadiums in sight, it's not super-scenic. But Karsten is one of the better values in the Phoenix-Scottsdale resort corridor, particularly in the summertime, when you can often play an afternoon round for $12.50.

Pete Dye designed this course which features dramatically rolling fairways bordered by lush mounding and Dye's signature use of railroad ties and hidden bunkers.
