Arizona Biltmore Resort Links Course - Phoenix

Arizona Biltmore Links Course is the newer of the two Biltmore courses, and it's one of the more original golf courses you'll find in the Phoenix-Scottsdale resort corridor. Architect Bill Johnson forces you to think on a course that weaves around and features more uneven lies than you might find in a full two weeks of tame resort golf. [...] more »

Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa's Adobe golf course in Phoenix

The Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa's Adobe Course turns back the clock on Arizona golf while giving you plenty of green to look at. This is the second-oldest golf course in the entire Phoenix-Scottsdale resort corridor, and it's green and greener. [...] more »

Saguaro course at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona

We-Ko-Pa Golf Club's Saguaro course was one of the most eagerly anticipated Phoenix/Scottsdale golf openings in years. Offering a very different look than We-Ko-Pa's original track, Saguaro is a very satisfying play that's sure to develop its own cult. [...] more »

Tucson golf in pictures: Canoa Ranch Golf Club

You get a lot of golf for not a lot of money at Canoa Ranch, a hidden gem in Tucson's shadow. This is real desert golf, not the stuff of resort courses, with a 139 slope rating and plenty of dramatic shots. [...] more »

Coyote golf course at Starr Pass Country Club in Tucson

The Coyote is the most natural of the three nines at the Starr Pass Country Club in Tucson. It winds through desert, with the linked JW Marriott resort largely out of site. Instead you get towering 150-year-old Saguaro cacti and plenty of chances to spray it out of bounds. [...] more »

Kokopelli Golf Club - Gilbert, AZ ( Phoenix / Scottsdale area )

With little mounds all over the fairways, designer Bill Phillips makes sure you'll have some awkward lies, but these can help your score too: Errant shots tend to kick back into the fairways. You're not going to lose a ton of golf balls at Kokopelli Golf Club. [...] more »

Raven Golf Club at Verrado - Phoenix-Scottsdale

This is showy desert golf with fawning service. Designers John Faught and Tom Lehman don't go easy on golfers; you have to work for your score here, with plenty of distinctive holes that cut scenically around desert obstacles. [...] more »

McCormick Ranch GC in Scottsdale: Pine and Palm courses

McCormick Ranch Golf Club brings plenty of green to Scottsdale golfers. There are three 40-acre lakes and two golf courses: the Pine and the Palm. Both measure more than 7,000 yards. The Palm hits you with more water obstacles, but the narrower Pine carries more scorecard bite. McCormick Ranch also boasts some of the best practice facilities in Arizona. [...] more »

Wigwam Resort's Gold golf course gallery

The newly renovated Gold Course at the Wigwam Resort Golf Club throws bunkers at you that look like they're on steroids. This is how Robert Trent Jones Sr. plotted this Phoenix-Scottsdale area golf course when it opened in 1961, and a $5 million renovation by Forrest Richardson has restored much of that roar. [...] more »

ASU's Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, AZ

This isn't your typical 18-hole college golf course. As befits a program that produced Phil Mickelson and Heather Farr, Arizona State University's Karsten Golf Course is a Pete Dye design. [...] more »

Phantom Horse GC in Phoenix, AZ

In a Phoenix-Scottsdale resort labyrinth with some 200 golf courses, distinctive holes makes Phantom Horse Golf Club stick out. It's a short course by modern monster standards (6,336 yards), with some tight fairways. [...] more »

Raven golf course at South Mountain in Phoenix

Raven at South Mountain in Phoenix is anything but your typical desert golf course. The more than 5,000 pine trees give the place a very green feel and are very welcome in the stifling heat of an Arizona summer. [...] more »

Kierland Golf Club in Scottsdale, AZ

Kierland Golf Club doesn't spend a lot of time trying to wow golfers with its slope rating or design pedigree. Oh, those are fine; it's just that Kierland's management decided a day here should be about the overall experience. [...] more »

Southern Dunes Golf Club - Phoenix-Scottsdale

Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa gets attention for being the only acknowledged men-only golf club in Arizona. It deserves some attention for its Fred Couples design, however, which is unlike anything else in Phoenix-Scottsdale golf. The landscape is wide open with few trees in sight. The golf course is the only thing that matters here, and it shows in Couples' tough track. [...] more »

Desert Canyon Golf Club in Scottsdale photo gallery

One of the older golf courses in the North Scottsdale area, Desert Canyon Golf Club features a number of blind shots and doglegs. This John Allen design is a funky take on golf architecture with reasonable greens fees (especially for Arizona residents). There are a number of elevated tees throughout the course, including a dramatic downhill par 3. [...] more »

Sanctuary Golf Club at WestWorld - Scottsdale, Arizona

Opened in 1999, Sanctuary at WestWorld remains one of Scottsdale's best values for your golfing dollar. Maybe, it's being out there in North Scottsdale (which really isn't far out there at all these days despite WestWorld's tent dirt), but Sanctuary is the rare Scottsdale golf course that believes in greens fee slashing promotions. [...] more »
