Event: Phoenix Open 2002 Golf Tournament

The 67th presentation of Scottsdale's premier sporting event will take place on the Stadium Course at the Tournament Players Club of Scottsdale. This PGA Tour draws some of the largest crowds of any professional golf tournament in the world. Accompanying the 72-hole tournament are four pro-am events, a skills challenge, pro-celebrity shoot out, Special Olympics putting contest and golf clinics for juniors and ladies.   • The Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau has partnered with The Golf Channel and the Canadian Tour to add two premier golf tournaments to Scottsdale's current roster of internationally recognized golf and sporting events. Four-round coverage of the Scottsdale events will be provided on The Golf Channel making up three hours of live tournament coverage each day and 2½ hours of prime time or late fringe replay coverage. Viewers will also be able to catch the last three rounds of competition in an encore presentation during the week following competition.     Event: State Farm Women's Tennis Classic
    Date: February 25 - March 3, 2002

    The State Farm Women's Tennis Classic is the most prestigious women's professional tennis event in Arizona and features a 28-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw.     Last year, The Franklin Templeton Tennis Classic attracted such leading players as Pete Sampras, Magnus Norman, and Andre Agassi. This event features 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams competing for $400,000 in prize money.
