Scottsdale
Boasts Three
New Spas
TravelGolf.com Staff Report
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (Jan. 2, 2002) - It is no secret that Scottsdale's
spa facilities and treatments are among the most unique. If you
have ever traveled to Scottsdale, you know that when it comes to
the definitive spa experience, our city has it, with an abundance
of day and resort spas featuring rare treatments that marry the
age-old elements of the Sonoran Desert with the modern techniques
of healing.
Native American-based treatments use Sonoran Desert elements
such as river rocks, honey, cactus extracts and lavender. And,
Scottsdale now boasts three new destination spas!
The
Boulders Gets the Midas Touch
In November, The Boulders opened their 33,000-square-foot spa
affiliated with the acclaimed Golden Door Spa in Escondido, CA.
The spa features 25 treatment rooms, a labyrinth/meditative maze,
a 2,000 square-foot fitness center and outdoor patios.
The spa was designed with West and East wings. The West Wing
houses the check-in area, fitness center, and mind/body and movement
studios.
The East Wing has a more contemplative setting with mediation
areas, treatment rooms (each with four choices of music), hydrotherapy,
a full-service salon, elaborate locker rooms, a circular tea room
and an interior rock and sand garden. In addition, the facility
boasts an area dedicated to Watsu (an underwater treatment), two
Vichy treatment rooms with heated floors and Swiss showers, one
couples suite and one "Ultimate Spa Suite" (700 square
feet with steam showers, private patio, dataport and television).

Sanctuary
on Camelback Mountain Caters to the Mind, Body and Spirit
The Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain opened 24 new spa casitas
in October 2001. The property, formerly John Gardiner's Tennis
Ranch, has repositioned itself from a tennis resort to a casual,
but elegant resort with facilities that cater to the mind, body,
spirit and senses of their guests. The spa casitas were constructed
on two levels complementing the resort's mountainside setting.
The casitas surround the centerpiece of the resort, the 12,000
square-foot indoor/outdoor Sanctuary Spa that is scheduled to
open in January 2002. Adjacent to the spa will be a tennis compound,
25-yard lap pool and fitness center that serve resort guests and
spa members.
