Arthur Hills redesigned the club’s original course in 1999. The result is a classic desert design that has been modernized. Among the improvements are bunkers that pop up everywhere and wide fairways that often split. The par-3s are on the long side, including the daunting 220-yard 17th. The Resort course plays just over 6,800 yards from the back tees.
The Padre course is also known for its abundance of water, and the 9th hole was voted the “Best Water Hole” by Arizona Golf Magazine. The 36,000 square-foot pueblo-styled Clubhouse designed by Douglas Fredrikson offers golfers an expansive golf shop. The Grill at the Camelback Golf Club is a great place for lunch during your Arizona golf vacation and The Grill Lounge is a terrific 19th hole meeting place after your day of championship golf at either course at Camelback Resort.

Camelback Golf Club - Indian Bend Course

Arthur Jack Snyder’s design at Camelback Golf Club is one of the most scenic courses in the metropolitan Phoenix area. Nestled near the foothills of Camelback Mountain, the combination of mountain backdrops and challenging yet forgiving design has made Camelback a favorite for golfers in the Valley of the Sun for decades.
The par-5 18th hole is a challenging and strategic finishing hole. A severe dog leg right, tree-lined fairway gives you little chance of reaching the green in two shots. The green is two levels and undulates heavily. A bunker in the back and one on each side catch off-line third shots. Get close to the hole and finish off the round with a birdie.
The doglegs, bunkers, and trees can cause extra strokes, but the layout offers escapes from hazards, making outstanding golf for those of any skill level. Camelback has three sets of tees and plays 7,014 yards from the tips. Originally named Indian Bend, the Club Course at Camelback still holds its own despite the new, highly-touted Arthur Hills’ Resort redesign.
