Villa de Paz Golf Course was voted the top affordable 18-hole course in the Valley of the Sun, according to the Arizona Republic. The parkland course challenges top golfers, though it's not so difficult that beginners will wish they'd golfed elsewhere. After a 2002 remodel, the par-71 course measures 6,700 yards and offers water on 10 holes. If Phoenix in summertime intimidates, fear not: at Villa de Paz Golf Course, shade abounds, due to mature trees lining several fairways. Shoot for birdies or eagles, do so, but wisely. Reward has risk. Shooting sharply is especially required on holes like the fourth, a par-4 450-yarder with a severe right dogleg. Hitters dig the seventh, eighth and 15th, par 4s that can be nailed from the tee. The 18th mixes distance and skill. The par-4 470-yarder doglegs right and requires a carry over a lake to reach the three-tiered green. Fancy a warm-up before the Villa de Paz Golf Course? Use the handy practice area, with its range, two-tiered hitting zones and highlighted target areas at different yardages so you can check your length -- and the wind.

Pace of play was atrocious
Course is in horrible shape, I understand that the rates are low, but its as if the place doesnt water. They pack people in like sardines. 4 hours to play 12 holes. We left after 12. Every hole had a wait time of 15 minutes to tee off. Total mismanagement on spreading out tee times. Just ridiculous! Will never play here again.
Hooked up with three really great guys from Wisconsin. Pace of play was very good, never had to wait at all. Little rough around the edges and some dead trees could be removed. Good value for the price.
The course needs water and TLC
As the season is progressing the shape of the course is going down, it is in need of water, it is in rough shape
Good day for golf
As usual I enjoyed the golf. The staff is very accommodating and very efficient. For being a Sunday the pace of play was excellent. The course was in very good condition.
Used to be a decent course. Not now!
The course had way to many bare spots. They either didn't overseed all of the fairways, or haven't maintained them well. Greens were spotty too. I was very disappointed.
Cheap Golf
For $25 at this time of year, not bad. You get what you pay for. Find some grass and move yo ur ball to it.
Highlight - order the cheeseburger on the 8th hole, pick it up at the turn, and be delighted!
Nice staff.
Ugg!
It took 3 hours to play 9 nine holes. There was a problem on holes 5 and 6. The water never shut off and we had to play in the mud. Hole #7, the green was unputtable with water.
The Pro was EXCELLENT and he did not charge me for the 18 holes. I only played 9 holes because of teh conditions and time. I thought that was very nice. However, this course is "NOT A JEWEL IN THE DESERT."
Everything was excellent. There was a backup due to cart availability. Tee times were running about twenty minutes behind.
coarse in bad shape
I will not go back here any time soon. The whole coarse was in bad shape, some greens were so void of grass the ball would not stop rolling. This is the worst coarse I have golfed in Arizona in in the last 10 years
As usual it was a very good experience. Especially with the weather. It was perfect golfing weather. I will give Villa De paz an excellent rating.
Value for price
Greens were good but rest of course needed water.
Very dry, sparse grass and bare or sandy areas
Worth The Price
Friendly staff, friendly golfers, super deal on golfnow; excellent pace of play-<3.5 hrs. course condition: barely playable (the lush photo on golfnow site must be the only one.) avoided the few bunkers on course, so didn't note their condition. while mainly dry and bare, I did find my ball in play and in standing water on two holes(?). tee boxes uneven or badly pocked; pitch marks on greens rarely repaired. carts had sand to fill divots, but no evidence it was ever used. BUT, the greens were fairly quick and rolled remarkably true and fun to putt with lots of slope. would play again at price paid. course could be nice with some attention.
