About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in May 2019.
ASU Karsten Golf Course features a Pete and Perry Dye-designed links-style course characterized by design features that challenge, such as Dye's mounding and bunkering - making it important to pick the right golf clubs if you don't want to run up that score. Big-name PGA and LPGA Tour golfers like Phil Mickelson, Billy Mayfair and Grace Park have all played this course.
ASU Karsten Golf Course offers several holes one could call "signature," such as the short par-4 fourth, the tough par-4 ninth, the daunting par-3 16th (248 yards from the tips) and the challenging par-4 final hole. The water on the left side is the reason this is called one of Arizona's most difficult finishers.
After a round at the ASU Karsten Golf Course, check out the 21,000-square-foot Sun Angel Clubhouse, which tempts players with its Southwestern and American fare in the Trophy Room.

nice, well maintained course
This was the first time playing the course and I was pleased with the shape of the course as well as the price. It was challenging but not unfair. I would come back there to play.
Great course!
This course is fantastic.very challenging from the tips , and lots of fun!
All you can play
I had to play it. All day for $29 bucks was awesome. Practice facilities are good even though iron shots were from the mats. Greens are recovering from sanding, but we're still really fast. Green were receptive with a high trajectory, but anything less than a huge drop would not stay. Pete Dye never meet a hill he didn't like. You have to know the course to be safe. A player must know how the play all types of lies. Very challenging, but too many blind shots. So sad to see this course go. Food was excellent in the clubhouse. I would recommend the herb chicken sandwich.
Good day
Greens little sandy back nine very tuff! Not much room to miss!
Very poor condition this time of year
The course was in awful shape.
The greens were awful.
The surrounding area of the greens was awful, dead spots everywhere.
All in all I think Pete would be very disappointed to see one of his designs in this poor of shape.
Windy Day
Best deal in town for an upper end course. Tee to green were in great summer shape. The windy condition made the back nine brutal. Par 4's against the wind made the holes more longer. Nevertheless, a good place to gauge your game. Water in play in the closing holes.
Great value
Played course for the first time. Great value on GolfNow. Greens and fairways are in super condition. Did not like hitting off practice mats for warm up (Monday-Thursday), oh well. Ask for map of course if this is your first time, no map on score card so sometimes its hard to tell were the greens are (accidently played the 18th green off the 9th tee :). Great course, would definitely play again.
Great Track
Wonderful course and great facility. Conditions were surprisingly good considering the heat. Just a fun course to play
Great Value!!
Great course, excellent conditions!!
Best value by far this season.
26 BUCKS!!!?
Challenging but fun
The course was in awesome shape and a blast to play!
Target Golf at its Finest
Had not played this course in 7-8 yrs. It was essentially unchanged. The greens were in great shape, the fairways in very good shape. Pace of play was good. There is hardly a flat spot on the course. One must be very accurate in landing in select spots. Getting off the best parts of the fairway can be somewhat punitive. Very pretty course with lots of bunkers and plenty of water hazards. Would highly recommend for intermediate or better golfer.
Great Value
Great value with summer time rate. Course is still top in metro area.
Karsten
Great course, friendly staff, greens for the summer where very true.
Great course. Slow play
Course is very well maintained and challenging. Pace of play was very slow. Over 5 hours
Very hilly and challenging
Not a bad course if you like "ondulated" fairways. Didn't give it bad reviews because it's just not my style. I also didn't like the golf balls flying 10 yards from my head or landing at me feet every 4th hole. I guess it's soooo narrow and so hilly that people can't warn other golfers when they shank a shot Because they can't see them!
Good Deal
Good price for Karsten in the morning. Course was in good shape. Like playing this course. It will be a shame when it closes down...
Test
Brakes
Four-piston aluminum monobloc fixed calipers front and rear, discs internally vented and cross-drilled, with diameter front 315 mm, rear 299 mm
Challenging But Fun Course
Great shape for heading into summer. Too tough a course for high handicapper like me unless you play from forward tees, which are still tough. Recommend this course for better golfers, but it was still fun.
Karsten
The course was still in pretty nice condition even though we're heading into summer. The club staff and snack bar attendant were extremely nice but the The cart girl was extremely rude. I would definitely recommend this course to others though if they don't have a problem paying top dollar for a well-maintained course.
