Formerly known as Grande Valley Golf Club, San Miguel Golf Club reopened under its new name in 2011. The course sits conveniently halfway between Phoenix and Tucson. The course retained its original character but the greens and fairways received a major reconditioning. Eucalyptus trees line the fairways and rolling, contoured mounds guard the tightly manicured greens. The beautiful, lush setting is accented with a pristine, five-acre lake that comes into play on a few holes. The golf course finishes with its signature hole. It is best to approach this tricky par 5 by thinking it through from the green backwards. The approach shot has to be hit from where you can clearly see the pin or else the second shot will be quite a feat. The green also slopes toward the front forming a deep hollow behind the green that is just waiting to swallow errant shots.
