CLUB RENTALS
Arizona Golf Club Rentals
No clubs in Arizona golf hotspots, no problem
Showing up in Arizona without golf clubs may seem akin to arriving in Iraq without body armor. This is the desert golf playpen of the world after all with showy renowned golf courses in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tucson and good golf in a number of other smaller spots such as Sedona and Prescott too.
Still, if you do find yourself at Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport, or anywhere else, without your clubs, there's no need to fret. Many golf resorts in the Phoenix-Scottsdale area offer club rentals and almost every golf course there has sets you can rent by the round.
At the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, there is a golf concierge in the lobby who can set you up with a set of clubs for the week or however long you are in town. The Westin Kierland Resort also allows you to rent golf clubs for the duration of your stay. At the Boulders Resort, you can get Nike clubs for $45 per day. At Troon North, it's $50 per round for a set of top-notch Callaways. At the Raven at South Mountain, it’s $50 for a set of Taylor Mades.
In fact, this is a good rule of thumb for club rental in Phoenix-Scottsdale: Expect to pay about $50 per day.
Tucson golf club rentals
Tucson is a little less than two hours away and another world from Scottsdale. Tucson's golf courses are more rugged true desert and its pace is much slower and less trendy. When it comes to club rentals, you'll also find a more relaxed attitude.
Top Tucson resorts such as Loews Ventana Canyon frequently offer packages that include free club rentals for the duration of your stay. Tucson resorts are used to doing a little more to attract guests and you can often call up a resort like JW Marriott Starr Pass and negotiate to get golf club rentals included in your room rate.
Some courses just beyond Tucson will include a rental set for the round in their greens fees. For a course like Canoa Ranch Golf Club, which has a high season greens fee that tops out at $89, that can be quite a bargain.
If you cannot get your club rentals in some type of package, the average price at a Tucson course or resort is about $40 per day. Some resorts offer rentals by the week for around $220.
The percentage of golfers who use club rental services are much lower in Scottsdale and Tucson than they are in other destinations with less of a golf focus. People tend to bring their clubs. Still you can come to Arizona without sticks and get golf equipment no problem.
