ASU Earns Sixth-Place Tie In McGuire Invitational

Nagel finishes in top-10 for women's golf.

Sept. 25, 1999 - TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's golf team finished tied for sixth at the Dick McGuire Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico following a final round 10-over-par 302. The Sun Devils shot a combined 29-over-par 905 (299-304-302), while the University of Arizona won tournament at the UNM Championship Golf Course with a three-day total of 880.

Individually, ASU got another strong performance from Miriam Nagel, who tied with Oklahoma State's Maria Boden for 10th with a two-over-par total of 221. Four strokes behind Nagel was Sun Devil Caroline Laurens, who finished in a sixth-way tie for 18th at 225.

At 13-over par (232) was Lisa Merideth, who tied for 41st. Blair O'Neal shot a 14-over-par 233 to tie for 44th overall, while Molly Cooper and Michaela Friberg (competing as an individual) were part of a group that placed 65th at 238.

Arizona State returns to action October 22-24 in the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
