No. 10 ASU Opens With Fall Preview
Women's golf returns one letterwinner from last season.

TEMPE, Ariz. - The ASU Women's Golf Team will open its season at
the Fall Preview Sept. 13-15 in Sunriver, Ore., at the Crosswater
Golf Club. The 54-hole event is the precursor to the NCAA championships
being held at the same venue, May 24-27. ASU will tee off at 9:20
a.m. September 13 and 14.
PRESEASON RANKING: Arizona State begins the season ranked
10th in the Sept. 10 edition of the MasterCard Collegiate Golf
Rankings. ASU Newcomer, Miriam Nagl, ranked No. 14 in the Division
I Women's Individual Rankings. ASU returns one letter winner from
last year's squad, Caroline Laurens.
CAROLINE LAURENS: Sophomore Laurens (Montpellier, France)
finished her last season with seven appearances, 21 rounds, 1603
strokes and a 76.33 average. Laurens captured two Top 10 Finishes
during the season, placing No. T3 in the Spartan Invitational
and No. T5 in the PING/ASU Invitational.
LINDA VOLLSTEDT: Under the direction of Coach Linda Vollstedt,
ASU has captured six NCAA championships in the 1990s, twice as many
as any other women's golf program in the nation. ASU has had Top
10 NCAA finishes in 10 of the last 12 years.
