ASU men's golf squad places sixth at event

BIRMINGHAM, AL-- The Arizona State men's golf team finished sixth at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate held at the Old Overton Club in Birmingham.

Junior All-Americans Paul Casey and Jeff Quinney led the way, as Casey finished second (tie) with an 11-under-par 202 (65-70-67) while Quinney was tied for seventh at 207 (66-70-71). Dating to last year, Casey has now finished in the top 10 in six straight tournaments.

ASU shot a 2-under 850 (277-285-288) for the tournament. Clemson and UNLV each shot 835, with Clemson winning a playoff. Charles Howell of Oklahoma State won the individual title at 12-under 201 (68-66-67).

Also competing for the Sun Devils were Matt Jones (71-72-73=216/T-23), Jin Park (76-73-77=226/T-49) and Brady Stockton (75-75-78=228/T-54).
