PHOENIX (Dec. 14, 1999) -- At the Gallery Golf Club in Marana, Ryan Beauregard and Doug Simmons shot a 5-under par 67 to win the overall title in the 2nd Annual Club Team Championship. The winning team, representing the Raven Golf Club at South Mountain in Phoenix, beat Ed Smith and Steve Dallas of Apache Creek Golf Club by a stroke in the Nicklaus Flight. Fifty-two teams competed.

Bob Mandeville and Garron Hale of Forest Highlands GC in Flagstaff won the Jones Flight with a 2-under par 70. They beat four other teams by a stroke.

For the second year in a row John Boemer and Dave Sellers of Yuma Golf and CC won the Hogan Flight. They shot a 4-under par 68. Jim Benjamin and Danny Anderson of Spruce Goose GC won the Nelson Flight with a 5-over par 77 and Ed Hubert and Jim Weir won the Sarazen Flight with a 74.

The Club Team Championship, a two-person scramble format, was held for the first time in 1998 at the Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale to honor the 75th anniversary of the Arizona Golf Association. This year’s tournament, generously sponsored by the Thunderbirds, was equally successful. A regional qualifying was held to narrow the field to 52 teams.

All players received an embroidered sweatshirt, lunch, 18 holes of golf and a full-buffet dinner and dessert at The Gallery’s new clubhouse restaurant. Pewter trays were awarded in five flights and the overall winners received the signature Kachina trophies.
